The most valuable historical specimens in the herbarium comprise the collection of the famous Slovak botanist, Izabela Textorisová (1866-1949), as well as the collection of the Bratislava Medical and Natural Science Society, mainly from the territory of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, or the herbarium collection of V. Greschik. An important part of the collection consists of voucher specimens documenting karyosystematic research, which was a significant focus of the research activities at this institution (images available via www.chromosomes.sav.sk).
