The Distributed System of Scientific Collections (DiSSCo) is an emerging world-class Research Infrastructure (RI) dedicated to Natural Science Collections. DiSSCo aims to establish a new business model for a unified European collection, digitally integrating natural science assets across the continent. By harmonizing access, curation, policies, and practices among participating countries, DiSSCo ensures that all data adheres to the FAIR principles—making it Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
The Memorandum of understanding on formation of the Slovak consortium for participation in the European Distributed System of Scientific Collections (DiSSCo) was signed on 22nd March 2017 by the representatives of three Slovak institutions: Institute of Botany, Plant Science and Biodiversity Centre, Slovak Academy of Sciences, established in Bratislava, Comenius University, established in Bratislava, and Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, established in Košice
DiSSCo infrastructure was included into the national roadmap – “Cestovná mapa európskych infraštruktúr (SK VI Roadmap 2020-2030)”
